Glue Down LVT Flooring FAQs: Everything You Need to Know Before You Buy

Thinking of fitting glue down LVT flooring but not quite sure what you're getting into? Whether you're revamping your home, fitting out a rental, or taking on a DIY project — here's everything you need to know, without the jargon.

❓ Can I install glue down LVT over concrete?

Yes — glue down LVT is ideal for concrete subfloors. It bonds directly to the surface, giving you a solid, stable finish. Just make sure the concrete is dry, smooth, and level. If it's a new slab, check the moisture levels before installing or use a damp-proof membrane first.

❓ Is glue down LVT better than click vinyl?

In most cases, yes — especially for kitchens, bathrooms, or high-traffic areas.

  • It feels more solid underfoot
  • There’s no risk of planks shifting or popping
  • You can replace individual tiles easily if damaged

Click vinyl is quicker to fit, but glue down wins on durability, appearance, and long-term performance.

❓ Can I use glue down LVT with underfloor heating?

Absolutely. Just make sure:

  • The adhesive is suitable for UFH
  • The system is fully commissioned and running before fitting
  • You don’t exceed the recommended temperature (usually 27°C)

Our glue down luxury vinyl tiles are 100% UFH-compatible — just check the spec sheet for each product.

❓ Is glue down LVT waterproof?

Yes — fully waterproof. That’s why it’s perfect for:

  • Bathrooms
  • Kitchens
  • Utility rooms
  • Hallways

It won’t swell, warp or peel when exposed to moisture, unlike cheap laminate or wood floors.

❓ How hard is it to install?

If your subfloor is prepped properly — smooth, clean, dry — it’s a straightforward job. You’ll need:

  • Adhesive (wet set or pressure-sensitive)
  • A roller
  • Patience with the layout if you’re doing herringbone

Top tip: Don’t skip the feather finish if your subfloor has any dips or imperfections.

❓ Does it work in rental properties?

Yes — glue down LVT is a landlord’s best friend. It’s low maintenance, long-lasting, and easy to repair. We’ve supplied thousands of square metres to landlords fitting out HMOs, Airbnbs, and student lets.
