The wear layer is the transparent protective layer that sits above the printed design of LVT flooring. At 0.55mm, it provides a more substantial protective surface than thinner wear-layer options, making it well suited to areas that experience heavier everyday use.

Is 0.55mm wear layer LVT suitable for busy homes?

Yes. A 0.55mm wear layer is a strong choice for busy areas such as kitchens, hallways, living rooms and open-plan spaces where the floor is likely to experience regular foot traffic.

Is a thicker wear layer the same as thicker flooring?

No. Overall flooring thickness and wear-layer thickness are different specifications. For example, a floor may be 3mm thick overall while having a 0.55mm protective wear layer. You can use the Thickness and Wear Layer filters to compare products.

How is 0.55mm LVT installed?
