What can you lay LVT flooring over?
Luxury vinyl tile flooring can be installed over a wide range of subfloors, but that does not mean LVT should simply be placed directly on top of whatever is already there. The condition and preparation of the surface beneath the flooring can have a major effect on the finished appearance and performance.
Glue-down LVT is relatively thin, which is one of its advantages, but this also means ridges, joints, cracks and other imperfections in the subfloor may become visible through the finished flooring if they are not dealt with correctly.
Below we explain the usual considerations for the most common UK subfloors. Always follow the specific instructions supplied by the flooring, adhesive and subfloor-preparation manufacturers used on your project.
